I love visuals that effectively tell a story or demonstrate some important concept, and I found a gem here from the Predictive Index.
I’ve been concerned about the impact of employee engagement on business results for nearly 25 years. First, throught the lens of a business leader, as our teams and people worked through the great digital transformation of print media (still unfolding, by the way). More recently, and with greater depth, as I have transitioned to a consulting role, focused on helping companies create new sight into the people-side of performance.
Much of what we see, read and practice speaks to what should be done to increase the emotional connection that employees have with their companies. Yet, most of these actions, while well intended, are actually based on very little (if any) data about what is actually happening to cause disengagement.
The image above reminds us how even our most engaged employees can be pulled down- specifically through 4 forces:
- Job fit
- Manager / employee relationships
- Team dynamics
In many organizations these blockers represent a major blindspot.
Awareness initiatives can play a critical role in diffusing these blockers. This is where companies can devlelop the new sight needed to create a high-performance workplace.
